First Day of School

Yesterday was BL's first (half) day at school. For 3 hours a day he will be attending a local Montessori school. His FH packed his backpack with the required (and labeled) extra clothing, pencil case, and water bottle and he carried it in on his own. He was accompanied by his entire core entourage - FH, MH, and Mila.

We have been talking about this with him for months and he was eager to go - no need to drag him in. He sees it as something new and exciting, not fully appreciating that this spells the end of his full days of unfettered play (at least until his first job layoff or retirement).







As usual, BL tugged our heartstrings with his sweet nature. He gave us all a big hug and then went in to the cloak room to find his cubby hole. Part of the Montessori philosophy is to teach self sufficience so we are not allowed to enter the cloak room and help him with jackets, shoes, etc. As we spoke to the teacher, he reappeared,"can I give you another huggy?" That brought on a few tears.

He hasn't shared much about what happened that first morning yet, but wasn't complaining about going back this morning.
