Treehouse - Part 3 (pretty much final)

The treehouse project pretty much wrapped up last weekend after the final push to get it done before the snow flies. The cool (actually cold) weather means that painting will have to wait until the spring, and there are a few windows to be cut, but we are announcing "mission accomplished" with the completion of the last 2 key feature - the pulley arm and the lookout tower.

Let's allow BL to take us on a tour...

The tower is probably the coolest feature of the treehouse. It was also one of the scariest pieces to build, as the weather was wet and very windy on that day.  The lookout floor is about 12 feet off of the ground, with amazing views to the east and towards Georgian bay. You enter from below through a hinged trap door that swings open to climb up and then closes to make a hole-free floor. Once inside, it's like a crow's nest that is completely enclosed so you feel safe while looking out over the farmland. It took some fine tuning to make BL feel safe climbing in and out and closing the door.

  

One of BL's favourite features is the pulley arm that lets him pull up snacks and supplies without climbing down the ladder.
