Life Lessons - Building a Quincy

Earlier this winter BL's MH taught him to make a small shelter outside to keep warm. When his MH was a lad in Winnipeg, he made quincy's in the snow banks made from shovelling the driveway. Now it's time to pass this skill on to the next generation.

For those people that didn't grow up in Winnipeg, this is how a quincy is made.

1) Make a big pile of snow. Optionally, get a little fella to pack it down.

2) Wait for a week and then hollow it out. I forgot how anti-productive it feels to throw snow that you had just piled up a week before.

This was a special snow house, we ended up carving out a raised loft platform with 2 steps for BL o climb up on. On a cold, windy day it is remarkably warm inside.

If you are lucky enough to be invited inside BL's chilly palace, he'll probably offer you a snack.
