Treehouse Project - Part 1

BL's MH made a promise at one time to build him a treehouse. The dangerous thing about making promises to kids is that they never forget. BL brought up the subject recently and so we thought it would be best to get it done before the snow flies again.

A suitable treehouse plan was found on the web. (This is not the finished product, it's the picture from the plan.) It's not technically a treehouse because it stands on its own legs, but we don't have the tree to hold one in Creemore.

While BL preferred a spot on the lawn, he eventually agreed to a spot at the back of the property sheltered by trees. The grasses run wild back there so a bit of clearing was required.

One dead tree had to come down first, no sense leaving it to the wind to drop it on our new fort.

Glen Huron lumber left a formidable looking pile of lumber for us in the driveway. Hard to believe that this will turn into the treehouse. It's been a long time since I framed houses in Winnipeg...

The project started with just BL as a helper, but a call from Stuart on Saturday morning with the offer of help was appreciated. Not sure how I expected to be able to erect this structure with only a half-pint helper.

 

With the arrival of Stuart, there was a flurry of activity and before long the structure was up.

After Stuart left, BL and I wrapped up a few more items, like the ladder and railing supports on our own and called it a weekend.

Once we finish, BL will definitely have a treehouse with one of the best views around.
